The personal data that we hold

Personal data that we may collect, use, store and share (where appropriate) includes, but is not restricted to:

  • Child’s name, date of birth and school details
  • Name and contact details (e mail, telephone number and address) of parent/ carer
  • Details of any medical conditions/ special needs including physical / mental health issues and allergies
  • Photographs of the child taken during classes or ‘Stitch Camps’



Why we use this data

We use this data to:

  • Share with the Children’s University for those children who have a ‘Passport to Learning’
  • Safeguard children’s health where food/ snacks are provided
  • Assist children appropriately during lessons in accordance with any particular needs
  • Manage payment information for attendance at ‘Stitch Club’ or ‘Stitch Camp’
  • Inform parents/ carers of ‘Stitch Club’ and ‘Stitch Camp’ times, dates and payment information
  • Use photographs for the purposes of social media advertising and/ or any other promotional materials for ‘Sew in the City’ 



Our legal basis for using this data

We only collect and use children’s and parent/ carer’s personal data where the law allows us to do so. Most commonly, we process it where:

  • We have obtained consent to use it in a certain way
  • We have a legitimate interest in processing the data, such as managing payment for ‘Stitch Club’ or ‘Stitch Camp’
  • We need to protect the individual’s vital interests
  • We only share this data with the Children’s University 


Where we have obtained consent to use the child/ parent/ carer personal data, this consent can be withdrawn at any time. We will make this clear when we ask for consent and explain how consent can be withdrawn
