This series of dressmaking workshops are aimed at beginners wanting to learn all the basic skills for making clothes or at those who have some sewing experience but need help with some basic techniques. Across a series of four workshops (Tuesdays 6.30pm - 9m) you will learn the following:

  • How to read and understand a pattern and how to adapt it to fit you. You will also learn basic cutting and preparation techniques, including the best method of overlocking raw fabric edge

  • You’ll explore the different techniques for seams and hems and the best ones to use for different patterns/ fabric as well as how to shape darts to ensure that you get a perfectly fitted garment

  • You’ll be taught how to fit a zip and to create and structure a perfect waistband

  • You’ll learn techniques for pleating and gathering and how to make sure that they are evenly spaced
