Start your journey as a quilter by mastering the basics on this beginners course as well as demystifying some of the terminology and language surrounding the quilting world. By the end of the course you'll be able to design and create your own quilt

This course, set over two alternate Tuesdays is tutored by our ‘in house’ quilting expert Jenny of Papper, Sax, Sten who has tutored at the V&A and whose work has appeared in their most recent book on modern quilting.

During the course, she’ll start you off with the basics. Starting with cutting and piecing, she’ll teach you how to use a rotary cutter to cut with precision and different techniques for ‘piecing’ with perfectly matched corners.

Once you’ve mastered the techniques that enable you to put a quilt top together, Jenny will guide you through the processes to enable you to ‘back’ and ‘baste’ it. You’ll get to experiment with the 'walking foot' to quilt it and learn techniques for adding a neat binding i.e./ an edging to your quilt. Everything you need to know to make a whole quilt!

We’ll provide a selection of fat quarters for you to experiment with and by the end of your course, you’ll be ready to start creating your own!
